What makes teaching in the arts and humanities doubly frustrating these days is students still seek correctness in their work. The lack of curiosity or seeking understanding leads to an inability to think creatively and critically.

AI-generated essays are the logical conclusion to raising students from a young age to focus on grades and "correct answers" rather than curiosity and understanding.

Cut and paste sections of an article on spirit photography + ectoplasm from the 19th + 20th centuries alongside notes that connect both of those respective practices to generative AI.

I’ve taken up common placing as a research practice. I find it’s helping me by creating a much more tactile approach to the texts I consume. I’m starting to see my research as having a materiality that I am getting my hands dirty with, manipulating it like an artist does with any other material.
