I don't care for the inverted balloon tail either. But then again, I'm a real stickler for good word balloon etiquette. None of these are even pointing toward her mouth! That first balloon is pointing toward her forehead. Then her neck. And then her forehead. So it's anarchy all around!

Yeah, this is a fairly standardized manga convention and you just have to know what it means through context and experience. You see it a lot in One Piece. The other convention I see that's never explained is black panel gutters meaning you are reading a flash-back.

Questions swirl over Affinity's future as Canva teases an announcement Affinity has stopped selling its software ahead of "big changes" coming on October 30.

I just bought Affinity Publisher 2 in the last year. My new book is the first book I've made entirely without Adobe products. This is what I was trying to avoid! What an absolute bleak market for creative software.

Possibly my favorite comic of all time! I think I'm missing one volume. It's not available in English, but there's a French edition. (Because of course there is) I believe the author is also active planning indie conventions in Japan, but it's hard to confirm that because of the language barrier.

I've never read a Harry Potter book. Not a one.

In regards to #2, I think it's important to keep audience in mind. I've had moms come up to my booth and ask, "Are your comics in color? Little Johnny will only read comics in color." Kids genuinely like it. It's appealing to that demographic.

Welp. I learned a new word today. I hate this.

Hot take: The money to be made in comics has always been in licensing, not in the comic itself. Japan does it right when they sell a book for 500 yen. Print is cheap, but it's not about the ROI. You can still turn a profit on print, but that shouldn't be the point - you are buying mind-share.

This is really the dirty secret of any "talent" or "hit" based industry, however you want to cut it. Remasters and remakes and re-releases are just the game industry's way of trying to live off residuals like the music industry. The Last of Us is the "We Didn't Start The Fire" of video games.

It's 25 cents a copy." Little porcupine, "Ok!" Panel #2: All three porcupines silently standing around an open photocopy machine. Panel #3: THUD! BBBBBZZZZZZ! All three porcupines slam their faces on the bed of the machine. Panel #4: All three porcupines back at the counter looking satisfied. The tall porcupine is holding up a piece of paper with all their faces on it. He says, "Family portrait." Galley is not thrilled.

I remember my grandfather had a couple big, old photocopy machines in his office. My grandma got really upset when I photocopied my face one day. Something about radiation? I really wish I had gotten Hulk powers or something.
