Sometimes when you’re somewhere you don’t belong and do horrible things to the people who love there, people express their First Amendment rights.

I’m guessing American athletes will hear plenty of boos and these Olympics will not “unify” the country. And the World Cup given”peace prize” killed my interest in that.

However, there are other examples which I hope don’t come to fruition: the Prague Spring in 1968 and Tiananmen Square in 1989. This is not a prediction but a warning that without the Trump administration backing down there will be a bloodbath in Minneapolis. 2/2

As a former State Department official, I try not to engage in hyperbole. I see similarities to France in 1789 and Russia in 1917, but I don’t think the same outcome will happen given that they were much different eras than today.
