It's a drastic surgery but I know they adapt well. It's harder on us humans to see what they have to go through. Here's hoping both pups continue with a solid recovery!

It's definitely hard sometimes seeing him in the cone hobbling around, but amputation means that he can have a longer healthier life and not be in pain from bone cancer. Which was important to us.

It has now been three full days since Welkin's surgery. Overall he's doing fairly well & just trying his best. We're making sure he gets lots of rest but also gets to amble around a little bit of the house to keep him moving.

I will be happy for his fur to continue growing back in on his shoulder.

dang, that's potentially for a lot of snow.

Welkin came home earlier today. He's groggy and sleepy and getting recalibrated to being a tripod. Unfortunately he's had practice due to the pain his leg was causing him.

We've got a solid 2 weeks of recovery to get through. Thank you to everyone who's been sending out good vibes for him. 💙

Welkin will not be coming home tonight, but I did get an update earlier this afternoon that the surgery went well and that he's already been able to walk around a bit.

I miss him and I still worry. The next few days will be really busy just focusing on him and meeting his needs.

Tomorrow is Welkin's surgery. I'm worried & will be for a while. I know it's all for a good reason but it's just going to be tough to have him be gone for up to a day and a half.

I finally have time and half a braincell to do my research for what he needs and yeah, it'll definitely be a big change.
