yeah, i've been using duckduckgo for years. it's pretty good for my usecase (mostly programming, sci and tech). but as far as i know, they still buy their search data from bing. so, i don't really know if it can a be a replacement for everyone.

oh yeah, that's true. I have been snooping around the git repos of deepseek and some yt channels where they're setting that up on relatively cheap hardware and honestly, i'm the most excited i've been in years. Open source + Optimizing on lower end hardware is the key, imo.

In my field (materials science), Machine learning can be used for analyzing vast amounts of scientific data to make predictions about material properties and narrow down search criteria for discovering new materials for various applications. ML can be a tremendous force for good if used correctly.
