Corporations don't care they will do whatever they want to make sure they get the most money out of you in exchange for ruining your mental health. The corps ruined the jobs, the unions are to moderate and don't do much. Pirate everything and make money however you want.

The distinction between skilled vs unskilled labour predates industrial capitalism. In old regime France there was a division between gens de bras (men of arms) and hommes de peine (men of punishment) eg casual labourers vs gens de métier (tradesmen) who performed a mechanical art eg a carpenter.
