TK & AEW want to appeal to the broadest range of fans they can.

Do I personally enjoy deathmatch style wrestling? No, but others do. If they want to appeal to those fans, the best place to do it is at the end of the card, in a "lights out" style scenario that basically serves as a disclaimer.

And to top it off: frankly, the match was *less* violent than stuff we've seen in the past. Swerve V Hangman Lights Out Cage Match is still probably the the worst we've seen; and that was also a match placed last so people could exit the show if they chose. I actually think it's a very smart idea.

Hell, I myself, as an adult mostly tuned out after Hangman V Joe because I knew some uncomfortable fuckery was about to happen. It was the last match, placed so that anyone not down with the violence about to happen had a chance to duck out & not miss anything else, or at least put the kids to bed.

Anyone pearl-clutching about Mox vs Darby last night is so silly. While I didn't particularly enjoy the simulated drowning attempt either, 1) it's far from the first time wrestling has done this; 2) Tony Khan & the AEW office clearly put thought into where an ultraviolent match belonged on the card.

This guy is a fucking grifter. I saw people in my own subreddit lauding him as a hero for being briefly detained and cited by ICE.

The money he is raising will not be used to hurt the administration. Those kind of lawsuits don't work that way. You are shotgunning cash into a void.

Is AEW perfect? No. I'm aware. But they at least seem to be trying to be the good place.

I spent 4 years away from WWE due to my exhaustion with Vince McMahon, my irritation over the pandemic releases, and my thorough enjoyment of the AEW product over the stale-ass booking of WWE.

I really love this streaming era for pro wrestling; I work until 5:45 and Dynamite starts at 5:00 PST but it doesn't matter since I can come home, and play it from the start on Max. Same with Raw on Netflix every week. It's great.
