And this is the cost of failing to persuade. It's not enough to warn people, you need to also convince them. All this shit is happening because the people who were supposed to be preventing these things failed catastrophically and repeatedly. Without learning from that failure, or recognizing it.

Honestly, this is true of most Americans. They don't feel brave until they have guns, armour, vehicles, or numbers. Otherwise, it is all bluster to try and convince everyone you are tougher than you are, like an animal puffing up it's coat to appear large.

I would say this is actually an incredibly pressing issue. Holding them responsible for their crime is a necessary step towards reform.

So they deserve it? You didn't prevent it. You're just as culpable. When democracy fails, the entire electorate bears some of the responsibility.

It's not enough to just cast a vote, you need to be organized and be persuasive. Trump is a moron, and somehow that hasn't been capitalized upon.
