Plese donate to the Middle English Texts series, a vital resource for teachinge, learninge, and studye: "With the recent and sudden termination of almost all NEH grants, our work is in jeopardy."
metseditions.org/donate?fbcli...
While the near-total loss of the NEH is horrific, it has been death by a 1000 cuts for decades: the loss of summer seminars abroad, of postdoc funding, of all of the tiny bits of $ that enlightened K-12 teachers' & junior faculty's work & lives. Sarah & I will be mostly fine; the next gen won't.

NEW: ALA is going to court to stop the Presidentβs attempts to illegally dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services.
The President does not have the authority to destroy a federal agency. That's why we're taking action with our co-plaintiff @afscme.bsky.social. #ForOurLibraries (1/3)
I was not consulted about this and I am not pleased.

11.03.2025 13:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Aside from the obvious direct harm, what's so irritating is that a handful of spoiled ignorant assholes are breaking things that we all built together. They weren't content to own almost everything, they had to wreck what little they didn't own. It's vandalism on a mass scale and has to be punished

Sorry.
The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired.

Image of medieval manuscript open and sitting in a book cradle that is surrounded and lit by electric pillar candles. The book is basked in a warm glowy light from them.
Got to see some old friends under new light at the medieval manuscripts by (electric) candlelight event put on by the Robbins Library. Really incredible to see the illumination under the flicker of warm light after years of seeing things lit up in the lab.
