Oh, how I wish all of us had been at Senator Mark Kelly and NC AG Jeff Jackson’s veterans town hall in Raleigh! And then gone out for a cup of coffee (at a good bakery, of course) to talk about everything. In lieu of that, here are some clips from the event and my takeaways. This is part 1 of 3. 💙🇺🇸

In route to breakfast, I was thinking how cute Dave looked while plotting what I was gonna order at Norm's. We didn't make it a block from the house and I lost him to an Estate Sale sign. Thank heavens he knows the time between, "i'd love to go to breakfast" and "I need some GD food RIGHT now!"

My soul is tired today. I'm running on caffeine, friendships, love for my precious Dave, and menopausal rage.

This week was full of conversations, in person and over Zoom, with so many epic women. The kind of women who lead from the front with intelligence, empathy, professionalism, courage, and fortitude.

This week, Dave finally returned to the gym, ten months after having his knees partially replaced. Military service is hard on bodies. The VA systems needs to expanded and improved, not gutted for future privatization so billionaires can bucks off the broken bodies of our veterans.

At this point in our relationship, Dave knows if I jump out of bed and put my bra on anytime before 8 AM on a weekend we are fixing to clap back at some fool.

I was looking forward to boring. I had visions of middle age being Dave and me watching Netflix on a Friday night. I didn't think we'd be spending our nights making protest buttons and resisting the attempted authoritarian takeover of our country. See u at a No Kings rally tomorrow. Stay peaceful.
