The art gremlin in me wants to stop working through this tutorial and instead remake my player sprite.

Ps: I already fixed it where when he falls from bat state to play the correct animation.

I am definitely not a coder 😅 I am going at this all self taught and clinging to YouTube and the lovely people here ad my guides. I’ve watched a video from DevWorm that really helped me understand. But that was functional based. Now I want to move into node base state machines.

I have watched a tutorial by DevWorm on state machines with the add on LimboAI and I’ve done it! I have a working state machine. And I even added my own state and a cooldown between them. Now to learn node based state machines!

With renewed confidence, I am going to attempt State Machines again today. Fingers crossed!

I’ll look into those. I haven’t tried any add ons for GoDot yet. TBH I just learned they were a thing recently.

You did answer my question! Thank you for taking the time to help. My biggest hurdle was trying to understand when to trigger a state change but I think I can see how with the bit of code you posted earlier up.

Just trying to learn how to change states for my player character and what coding to use. Watching YouTube tutorials. I am using the current version of Godot.

Trying to understand state machines has me really confused. I get the concept. I have no idea how to implement. The tutorials I have watched just confuse me more.

Listening to @doigswift.com talk about approaching gaming engines with an artist way of thinking is so real. I am Frankenstein-ing so many things together right now to just make the thing.

Working on pixel animations today and screaming about waterfalls. But I animated a silly little lad and I feel less enraged.

I moved to Germany to live with my husband and learned a bunch of their holiday songs. One of which I sing so obnoxiously. I don’t know if he hates it or he hates me singing it 😅
