29.11.2024 16:53 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Grandma Minnie Lee followed her Reds(even coaches) after they left Cincinnati. Such a true Reds (and baseball) fan.
29.11.2024 14:40 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Always makes me smile when I see her scorecards from Danny Jacksonโs postseason outings in 1985 with the Royals and how impressed she was with him.He joined her Reds in 1988, became an all-star & played an integral role on the 1990 World Series championship team.He brought her much joy. Thanks Danny!
29.11.2024 14:51 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Notes I found from Grandma to me many years after she passed๐.
These are from 1986 after the Mets clinched the NLCS and then after the Mets won the World Series and Knight (an ex-Red๐) was named MVP. She was so loyal to her former Reds and was genuinely happy & sad for them.
Thanks!
27.11.2024 00:05 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Eddie Milner had the only hit in 5 one hitters! Of course @grandmasscorebook.bsky.social has some scorecards from those games. I love the little notes, โReuss was a star!โ

He hit his 1st career home run in the 1st inning off Rick Mahler.
Hereโs this pitching gem on August 30, 1989 against the Reds at Busch Stadium.
He pitched 11 innings, giving up 1 hit (single in top of the 4th) for a no decision!
Thanks Bruce!

Grandma was ready, setting aside a green marker (before highlighters๐) to highlight this iconic milestone when it happened.
She wanted to make sure this moment stood out!
Just like grandmaโs apple pie in the 7th inning.

Terry Mulholland made his MLB debut against the Reds at Candlestick Park.
Grandmaโs hearing was not great and her radio was not the best.
She notes โJerry Mohallic 1st ML startโฆMulhallโ

โVada was inducted into Reds Hall of Fame tonight, before game. Vada was Joeโs guest on the pregame show tonight.โ
Sheโs also tracking the magic number for a possible 3-peat!
Yes, all 19 seasons. She caught lightning in a bottle from 1973-91 with the Reds! Construction of the Big Red Machine, winning in 75 & 76, acquisition of Tom Terrific, Roseโs chase of DiMaggio, then becoming the Hit King, to sweeping the Mighty Aโs in 1990.
She promised me the scorebooks to keep!๐

Grandma notes on her scorecard
โTommy John got his 1500th strikeout in 8th inning to Collinsโ
He would end his career with 2,245.
She was also getting frustrated with Fosterโs slow start after his 1977 MVP season
โFoster had struck out 20 times before this game (none today) thank goodnessโ
Nope, here in Louisville it was on 1450 WXVW. @cardchronicle.bsky.social
This was the back cover of her 1986 scorebook. These are hidden gems in her scorebooks. You find poems, phone numbers, promotional dates.
We can see she was looking forward to Tony Perez Day on September 21, 1986!
Tom Seaver gets his no-hitter on June 16, 1978 beating the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0 at Riverfront Stadium.
You can feel grandmaโs excitement with all her !!!! and underlining for emphasis!!! When she was excited she wrote larger as well.
These were her guys and she was all in with them each night.
She loved trying to guess who Joe Nuxhallโs โญ๏ธ of the game was going to be. You can see her inner dialogue with this one!๐
