Grandma Minnie Lee followed her Reds(even coaches) after they left Cincinnati. Such a true Reds (and baseball) fan.

Always makes me smile when I see her scorecards from Danny Jackson’s postseason outings in 1985 with the Royals and how impressed she was with him.He joined her Reds in 1988, became an all-star & played an integral role on the 1990 World Series championship team.He brought her much joy.Thanks Danny!

Notes I found from Grandma to me many years after she passed😇.
These are from 1986 after the Mets clinched the NLCS and then after the Mets won the World Series and Knight (an ex-Red😊) was named MVP. She was so loyal to her former Reds and was genuinely happy & sad for them.

Eddie Milner had the only hit in 5 one hitters! Of course @grandmasscorebook.bsky.social has some scorecards from those games. I love the little notes, “Reuss was a star!”

Here are three of those games when he broke up the no-hitters. Grandma makes sure she gives credit to those pitchers. She respected their performances. You can feel her respect.

She loved keeping score and she was able to capture a lot of huge Reds moments and milestones.

He hit his 1st career home run in the 1st inning off Rick Mahler.

Here’s this pitching gem on August 30, 1989 against the Reds at Busch Stadium.
He pitched 11 innings, giving up 1 hit (single in top of the 4th) for a no decision!

Grandma’s hearing was not great and her radio was not the best.

She’s also tracking the magic number for a possible 3-peat!

Yes, all 19 seasons. She caught lightning in a bottle from 1973-91 with the Reds! Construction of the Big Red Machine, winning in 75 & 76, acquisition of Tom Terrific, Rose’s chase of DiMaggio, then becoming the Hit King, to sweeping the Mighty A’s in 1990.
She promised me the scorebooks to keep!😇

He would end his career with 2,245.

She was also getting frustrated with Foster’s slow start after his 1977 MVP season
“Foster had struck out 20 times before this game (none today) thank goodness”

You can feel grandma’s excitement with all her !!!! and underlining for emphasis!!! When she was excited she wrote larger as well.
These were her guys and she was all in with them each night.

She loved trying to guess who Joe Nuxhall’s ⭐️ of the game was going to be. You can see her inner dialogue with this one!😊
