Saw a new Simpsons as I imagine most do nowadays: leaving the TV on to start dinner during the 4th quarter of a football game.

I wish I could my finger on what’s so uncanny about modern episodes. It’s not like it was without jokes but something (rhythm? voice?) is unsettling.

I went to a symposium once where the speaker started off saying that melodies resolved downward due to gravity and we realized we were stuck there for another hour.

I was able to share with my wife the theory that “Piano Man” is about the title character slowly realizing he took the gig at a gay bar. It did mean listening to the song again but it was worth it.

Setting up on the stage at Hutghi’s at the Nook in Westfield MA foregrounding my pedalboard, a couple people’s legs can be seen including one person wearing checkerboard Vans.

Played a ska show in western MA at a cool spot with a super hot crowd and one of the bands on the bill were playing their first ever show and they started every song with “Fuck ICE Free Palestine”
