That’s none of your concern, Dave.

like, just by itself, you have to admit that renting access to an LLM trained on someone's loved one's image and texts with the threat of taking that away someday is not a super smart idea. you have to recognize how you're preying on certain people, right?

I'm not doing Lexember this year, but I did create this useful ideophone today: sékÑt /ˈseːkaːt/ - depicts someone standing with their back to the wind (because the wind is cold, or blowing stuff, etc.).

The markets are staying afloat right now on the hope that AI will destroy American workers. What a bleak thing.

Oscar also cannot be trusted alone with artificial greenery. Somehow he doesn't make the association between munching on artificial pine and the virulently green vomit that inevitably results.

The KΓlta verb "kimo" ("cut") is used in expressions like "break an agreement, promise, etc." Today I added the expression "tempa si kimo" ("cut care/caution/circumspection") which answers to English "throw caution to the wind."

I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

For example, there's a section on KΓlta's color terms which makes things clearer than trolling through the entire lexicon would do. Yesterday I added almost two pages on flavor and aroma constructions.

There's not necessarily anything new in this section, but it does unite information spread across the lexicon and grammar in a way that makes some more covert patterns clearer. It also lets me expand on some things that I don't feel completely comfortable putting in the lexicon due to size.

A few years ago I started adding a "Notes on Semantics and the Lexicon" section to my #conlang grammars. I put them after the lexicon, so starting on p.392 of the KΓlta grammar β€” lingweenie.org/conlang/kilt... (as of Nov 23 2025). I got idea from one of Alexandra Aikhenvald's grammars.

I've been trying *not* to read it as an allegory for AI, just because I know from interviews the original ideas for the show happened years before genAI was everywhere. But it's really hard to avoid the comparison.

This is Badger, who left us early last year, at a ripe old age.

Everyone agreed he had a distinct expression, but no one could agree what that expression was: concern, sadness, disappointment. He was missing one canine, so he sometimes had an Elvis-style lip curl, and drooled when happy (often).

No, I do mean sniffing the wind. The Flehmen response can happen when they're facing the ground. And there's no lip-curl for this.
