President Trump's anti-trans passport policy is about the government trying to police who we are and how we live.

Having accurate identification is essential for trans people to live and travel without fear of harassment or discrimination.

Came here to ask this. Is my passport still valid to use for travel later this month? Kinda freaked out trying to figure out if I need to cancel my Thanksgiving plans.

Got accused today of making being Latino my entire personality. Sorry bud, that's only 1/3 of my personality, the rest is being trans and being gay 😝

Part of what turned me away from religion was this, and part of it was New Age people appropriating and twisting my specific ancestral culture all the time. 🫠 (Why does everyone pick on the Maya? I have no idea. Even the Mormon church that I was raised in does it!)

Removing people from their lands "for their own good," "for their safety," "to a nicer, new place." That's exactly what some people in Oregon were saying in the 1850s when they sent my ancestors to reservations. That's also what the president said today.

Hospital protests have begun for hospitals that are complying with an executive order banning gender affirming care.

The order does NOT have the force of law, but some hospital systems are too scared of trump to defend trans kids in their care.

You have more power than you realize. Use it.

Make the difficult choice. It will be hard. And it may hurt you professionally. But the cost of doing nothing will be others who have less privilege losing their lives.

But the reality is, most mental health workers are cisgender white women. They are completely unprepared for what is currently happening. Remaining neutral is not an option. If you do nothing to fight oppression, you are complicit.

I went back to school to finish my bachelor’s in my mid-30s specifically so that I could help other trans people and people of color who were trapped in this system. I already knew exactly how fucked we were, and what kind of difficult choices I would have to make.

I am in this field because I could not find therapists who shared my lived experience, or resources that would allow me, as a transmasculine person, to escape domestic violence.

It was so tone-deaf considering the actual makeup of my classes. I am in this field because I am queer, I am indigenous, I am neurodivergent, and I have survived horrific trauma.

Unfortunately, the training for the mental health profession does not prepare us for the actual reality of practicing therapy under a fascist regime. My ethics class was just chapter after chapter of my textbooks reminding us that discrimination is illegal and we can’t turn away gay people.

Or will you stand up for your clients and patients? Will you risk fines, jail time, or a loss of funding to do what is right and protect the vulnerable people under your care?

Will you comply with laws that you think are unjust, even though they violate the ethical guidelines of your licensing boards?

If the government makes it illegal to provide gender affirming care, or if ICE shows up at the doors to your facility, what compromises are you going to make?

As someone working on a master’s degree in art therapy and currently working in inpatient care, these are the questions I am asking the therapists, psychiatrists, and other healthcare workers in my life:
