I really think we could get better housing policy by wishing for it and talking about it on the internet.

Trying to think of the simplest way to explain this: we, most especially if we are socialists, should not want to give public dollars to private entities and then consider their private businesses to be public goods. It just doesn’t make good sense ya know? (This is about housing)

Poor people who go read in public libraries and find solutions to their problems are the best think tanks I have EVER met.

It's no one's fault that there is a flaw in the system for delivering the boxes and I am grateful for the people working to bring me food. I am also not a bitch for asking to be fed.

I emailed on Monday evening - no response. I called on Tuesday morning, was told that it would resolved. Came home Tuesday night, still no box, sent another email. Called again this morning and then just got a call back that the box should be delivered today.

I got a CSA box for the first time ever. So many metaphors. First, it's $500 up front, but then when you do the math it's only $100/month // $25/ week for groceries, which is amazing. Thank God I had $500 up front available.

This week my box was delayed.

Maybe if we don’t talk about it, it will go away - is something that worked in my family of origin (and honestly only on one side because poor people have to figure out how to make it work), but not something I am looking for in my family of choice.

Denver has an idea for the Civic Center gravel pit (It’s pickleball) The city is exploring building six courts at the corner of Lincoln and Colfax Avenue.

Oh my God....the rage that consumes me. Who comes up with these ideas and why are they always wealthy white men?

Last year, our council worked together to get $29 million dollars in rental assistance available. This year, the mayor is allocating $25 million for rental assistance and there are MORE PEOPLE expected to be evicted from their homes. Does that make sense to you?

Denver is expected to have over 20,000 eviction filings in 2025 and with the amount budgeted for eviction defense we can support a little over 10% of those folks.

And, last but certainly not least:
We are less than 500 eviction filings away from surpassing last year's numbers, Denver.

Budget Update 3:
Councilmember Torres asked for a paltry Denver city budget amendment of $150,000 for a Food Justice Fund that was unanimously supported by all 13 council members and the mayor responded - Nah, but we do have more studies! reports! AND *toolkits!* about food access!

Budget Update 2:
Denver Council members Parady and Lewis ask for $1 million more for STAR program with more than 9 council members supporting.

Mayor responds - LOVE STAR, don't love giving it more money, tho.

Budget Update 1
11 members of Denver City Council support $2.5 million for
Denver Basic Income Project and the mayor responds, "we have directed our homelessness resolution funding toward programs that more efficiently help Denverites in need."

It literally saves us money on other public services.
