4 frame comic of a bearded man with a red plaid flannel shirt and a traditional French Canadian sash in a snowy forest. He says : woo-wee! there sure is a lot of violence happening in the u.s., eh? how glad I am to be in good, reasonable, Pacific Canada! I mean, we do make a fortune out of every ICE raid with our big weapon and tech Canadian companies that are Major contractors of ICE, such as Roschel, Thomson Reuters, Hootsuite and Jim Pattison group*, but what can you do. of course, Gardaworld, a state-funded canadian company, is practically running the human rights violations black hole that is alligator Alcatraz*, but that doesn't mean Canadians are evil, does it? sure, every day that the inaction of Canadian govern- ments allows these companies to profit from the violence makes us all complicit, but at least we get to feel morally superior to Americans. kinda. Complicit.

Itβs true that (white) people are upset about the state of the US now that police violence has extended to people who look like them. And also Nazis and the KKK ilk have a long history of offing race traitors also.

life ending and infrastructure destroying floods are now an annual occurrence in new zealand. there is no political recognition of this new reality, and thus there is no resourcing for its prevention. we are not ready
22.01.2026 08:26 β π 327 π 111 π¬ 18 π 10FB status update from PM Christopher Luxon Several pictures of him meeting with locals, including two images in a tavern. "With National, New Zealanders get a party with a plan to fix the basics and build the future for all Kiwis, for generations to come. We've done a lot in just two years - and Kiwis can have certainty that over the coming year, National will continue working hard to realise New Zealand's potential and help all Kiwis get ahead. Great fun sharing this message with folk in Wigram while out campaigning across Christchurch with our National MPs today."
I think one might have had the foresight 15 hours ago that having pics of Luxo having a jolly old time in the pub while multiple regions are in a state of emergency miiight not be a great look

21.01.2026 23:54 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The tragic loss of lives in NZ flooding events this week are climate change deaths. Media and govt are avoiding the topic.
Leaders and commentators must acknowledge the emerging reality of ordinary summer rainstorms carrying volumes of water akin to tropical cyclones of previous decades.
Meanwhile, in the middle of all this while people are knee deep in water, the absent PM proudly announces an election dateβ¦with no mention of any events either here or overseas. So out of touch, heβs on another planet.

The right hand one is patterned with Christmas bells and Scout's name, and laying on top of a bottle of salted caramel whiskey.
So I hadn't bought something for my own stocking, and my kid is the sort of kid to find it un-plausible for there to be a whole entire stocking there missed by Santa. And I needed to replace a bottle anyway... so this year Santa brought PΔpΔ an entire bottle of whiskey and a blue V. Merry Christmas!
