Ryerson Woods in Riverwoods is one of the best places in Northern Illinois for fall color. I make sure to visit at peak autumn every year, and have never had an experience short of magical.

I have a recurring dream where I find new trails in my old walking places. This last Sunday, I took a slightly different way into one of my favorite areas in these woods, and I found a new-to-me trail that was absolutely beautiful, meandering along a part of the creek I've never seen. 🧡

While most of Pilcher Park was still green this past weekend, I really enjoyed hunting for spots of fall color in the edges, or where there were openings in the canopy. 🍁🧡

I waited until the rain died down a little on Sunday before my walk. I really don't think there is anything better than a rainy October walk in the woods. The colors pop, and the scent of old wet leaves is my favorite! 🍁🍂
