Flood Warning for North Sea and River Esk at Whitby Harbour High tides and forecast weather conditions are expected to cause flooding Today. Flooding is expected on Sunday 30/03/2025, between 4:00 PM- 6:45 PM. The Whitby Harbour areas are most at risk, including Abraham's Quay, Pier Road, New Quay Road, Church Street, Campion Dock and Bagdale Road. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads, as large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. Consider enacting your flood plan. This message will be updated by 9:00PM on Sunday 30/12/2025, or as the situation changes.

Flood Alert for North Sea coast from Staithes to Whitby including tidal River Esk High tides and strong winds are expected to cause flooding from overtopping waves and wind-blown spray between 3pm and 6pm today, Sunday 30/03/2025. Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible, especially at exposed areas of the coast. Areas most at risk include the North Sea coast from Staithes to Whitby including Sandsend and the tidal River Esk. Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and spray could be dangerous. We are closely monitoring the situation and will update this message at 9:00pm Sunday 30/03/2025, or as the situation changes.
