They only want the last mile delivery of the USPS. The universal mandate is what they want to do away with. Imagine having to pay $20/mo (or more) to get delivery every day? UPS and FedEx charge people to pick up, they can't compete with the USPS on that so they want to break is to get even 🤦

Been a carrier since 1993. We are very top heavy right now too. Over 60% of our career workforce is over the age of 50. I'm retiring in May after 32 years. The main problem is the new hires are non-career and don't get benefits for the first 2 years......if they make it that long.

The salaries/hourly wages are on a pay scale and everyone gets paid the same rate nationwide and the step increases are the same length of time for everyone. The Postal Service is seniority based.
