I had a great day carrying out a light touch review of the IT provision across a number of colleges in Oxford University yesterday and particularly enjoyed visiting some of the historic environments in which students are taught.

Digital Divide - a young guy trying his best - chatting to him highlights the digital divide. His home is too crowded & noisy to do his homework so he does it on the train. His mate uses an iPad & always gets better marks than the rest of the class - he’s never heard of ChatGPT

Another early, but also quite chilly, start. Off to the office developing some physical computing ideas with the @microbit_edu & finalising preparations for the start of term.

Sometimes grief just hits you - on the way to the team development day the driver took me past a school where a good friend was a Head, one of the most wonderful educators I ever knew, who tragically died of cancer too young & still fighting for her pupils - tears flowed

Finally finished responding to the DfE consultation on Generative AI in Education - did anyone else respond? If so should we collate everyone’s responses to see the direction of travel & if there are any commonalities?

Off to the office this morning to continue the rollout of @ClassLink to our schools plus work on a “laptop driving licence” for the learners in our 1-2-1 pilot schools - does anyone else have examples of what they do? @Tonihammy?

One of the challenges that the future use of #AIinEducation poses is how to help both teachers & learners make use of #AI to ENHANCE what they are doing rather than replacing. Yes, #AI can write a lesson plan but how do you make it YOUR lesson plan?

Off for a Team Day with @leadictservices at @altontowers …. But at the conference centre, not the park …. Personally I think discussing the merits of VR v AR whilst being tossed around & screaming would bring a new set of insights!!

Off early on the train again for a day discussing implementing @Classlink across several MATs & cloud backup for @Google & @MSEducationUK as well as more work on #AI guidance for schools.

Another early start, on a train up to head office for an #AI day exploring the development of an AI policy framework to share with schools next term so that they can adapt & extend it based on their local context.

Another early trip to a school to discuss 1-2-1. Things are really hotting up after the initial success of our first pilot.
