every day I type up a message either in a DM or in a discord message and spend like half an hour agonizing over it and eventually I get to a point where I'm like "alright it's perfect", a feeling that lasts until 20 seconds after I post it

this is with the caveat though that you won't have your suitcase for a night. so, you need to have a day's worth of clothes and toiletries in a backpack or other bag

tokaido shinkansen requires you to reserve certain seats if your bag is checked bag size or bigger. imo just use luggage forwarding, there's a stand at the airports you can drop your bags at (if you're not staying in Tokyo right away) and your hotels can help you handle it after that
