Opinion pieces are always presented as being more credible than they should be when elevated by an established media org (NYC, Atlantic). I think these brands genuinely believe they will attract more conservatives, but so far they’ve just pissed off their current customer market.

I worry opinion pieces too often get mistaken for actual news by less wary readers. All news is opinionated/biased, but opinion pieces don’t require the work of fact checking that other NYT articles do, and that makes the writer seem more credible than they are when placed next to real journalists.

So many people get sent to the hellhole that is the Baltimore hold room. These are the horrors that many people don't see or hear about.

😢 it’s so disheartening. The only thing that I’ve found moves the needle (not entirely but slightly) is if I’m able to point out that a source is AI or misleading and site a real news source that they respect as having the correct information.

I know a new TikTok competitor @skylight.social has been talked about here and on Instagram. My understanding is that it runs on the same AT Protocol as @bsky.app Could a model like this be the way forward?
