I think what I find oddest is how differently I seem to have interpreted the idea of the US.

In my mind growing up, the US was a liberal democracy whose moral goodness was in increasing civil rights, protections, and prosperity for all.

It seems the people I grew up with do not agree.

Color me surprised.

I really have no idea what is wrong with people who are entirely invested in controlling behavior in others.

We shouldn’t be banning porn. We should be protecting sex workers and welcoming them in society.

The final trolley problem?

If our kids are brown we starve and bomb them and if our kids are Black we criminalize them and if our kids are trans we torture them and we call ourselves "civilized."

I think the bigger issues here are that:

a. the current iteration of the USG lacks the will to enforce such a law,

b. even if they did, the perceived benefits to shareholder value would outstrip corporate caution over prosecution,

c. it’s so far been very difficult to prove, as I understand it.
