Calls need to be made to all electeds and a firm stance taken ASAP, with ten times the fervor of the Kimmel/D+ event

All the sources I’m seeing say she didn’t vote in favor of the Kirk remembrance day? She didn’t vote for or against it. Which, if you want to criticize her for not voting against it, that’s fair. But it’s disingenuous to say she voted in favor of it.

They are both running to fill Schakowski’s seat, who announced her retirement earlier this year. Progressives running for a seat currently held by a progressive - so it won’t change the balance much no matter who wins.

I’m not generally in the habit of reposting anything from the New York Times, but it was a relief to see something in a mainstream publication calling out this crap. (Even if the NYT played a huge role in stoking it in the first place)

So, when a Democrat makes their only statement on trans issues about trans women in sports, they are saying that this is their priority on trans issues - not restoring our equality under the law but joining Republicans in eroding it.

I think it's useful to unpack this. If Democrats agree with Republicans on excluding women's sports, what's the harm? Is it primarily harm to trans women who play sports, or is there something more to it?

A reasonable person who doesn't know much about trans issues could ask these questions.
