I'm not trying to antagonize, I don't have a 100% defined position on this matter. And I reckon there are implementation problems and potentially harmful effects like the one you originally described. But I don't think the argument should be reduced to "all regulation on the internet is bad" either.

Not ban learning, only access to harmful graphic content. I don't think kids' history books have images of death camps, even though they describe the Holocaust.
As for the bypass, that's like saying we shouldn't require to verify age to sell alcohol or drugs bc some kids can get them anyway

I agree that's wrong, and something to be contested through activism.
But it's a whole different story from requiring ID to access graphic content that contains violence and death. In that case, I think the goal (protect kids) outweighs the drawback (losing some privacy over the content you watch)

En general sí, pero a veces lo ideal es enemigo de lo bueno. Y hay cosas que es mejor hacer demorando más, y gastando más recursos
