Since it is wise to avoid religion & politics at events like these, and weather talk is tedious, people resort to traffic as something that everyone can commiserate about. Because of the assumption that everyone goes everywhere in cars.

Maybe separatism is best understood as something lived full time by only a blip, but with large downstream effects enjoyed and contributed to by women of all sexual orientations, separatist and otherwise. I was a cis-het young adult who volunteered at the local women's newspaper, for example.
