Last Day for Eataly’s Restaurant Fest in Toronto Today is the final day of Eataly’s Restaurant Fest, where you can enjoy a prix fixe menu for $26. It’s a great way to start a feast, with the starters and main dishes included and sides and desserts available at an extra cost. Tiramisu is pictured above, and everything else is below… polenta, burrata, supplì, mozzarella carrozza and gnocchi. Not pictured: the rich chocolate budino and the bottle of Nero d’Avola red. What is tiramisu? Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert made with layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream and a dusting of cocoa.

Budweiser Stage New Name: Toronto Concert Venue Has Been Renamed RBC Amphitheatre Toronto’s Budweiser Stage has a new name. Effective immediately, the waterfront concert venue is officially called RBC Amphitheatre. This Budweiser Stage new name marks the start of a major transformation for the venue. Live Nation and RBC announced the change on October 28, ending seven years under the Budweiser banner and three decades of beer-brand sponsorship overall. The venue first opened in 1995 as the Molson Amphitheatre, became the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in 2010, and switched to Budweiser Stage in 2018. RBC Amphitheatre is heading into a major rebuild as part of the province’s broader redesign of Ontario Place.

VEG ER for Pets Is Opening Soon in Etobicoke: A New Emergency Clinic on North Queen A new VEG ER for Pets Etobicoke location is on the way, and it’s moving into a spot many of us pass through all the time. The emergency clinic is opening in the plaza on North Queen with the Walmart, right across from Sherway Gardens, in the former Bowrings space beside the new Paris Baguette. For pet-owners in the area who’ve had to scramble for help after hours, having emergency care this close to home will be a real relief. I already like knowing it’s going to be there.

Toronto Scoop Mural Project: Cycling Through the City, A Mural by 88  If you’ve ever passed the RE/MAX Ultimate Realty building at 836 Dundas Street West, you’ve likely noticed the striking mural of a woman riding a bicycle, her basket overflowing with tiny houses. Painted by Toronto-based mural artist 88 (@the80eight) in 2018, it’s still remarkably vibrant years later. The bold lines and graphic style bring a burst of colour and motion to Dundas West, a lasting reminder of how public art can brighten everyday city life. Queen’s Cross Food Hall at the Eaton Centre Queen’s Cross is the Eaton Centre’s new food hall and it’s a nice update to the Eaton Centre experience. It’s definitely not the kind of mall food court most of us grew up with. Designed and run by Oliver & Bonacini, it opened on April 24, 2024, on the south end of the lower level. The space has about a dozen vendors, a bar, and plenty of seating. It’s a mix of fast-casual restaurants that look and feel more like stand-alone spots than a typical lineup of food court counters.

Toronto Scoop Mural Project: Jimmy Chiale on College Street Walking along College Street, I came across a striking mural by Jimmy Chiale, a Paris-born, Toronto-based artist known for his bold colours and layered, abstract faces. His work often blends emotion, movement, and geometry, giving Toronto’s walls a sense of rhythm and life. Chiale moved to Toronto in 2006 and has since created murals throughout the city, especially in the west end. This one, painted on the side of a brick building, shows his recognizable style… sharp lines, vivid greens and purples, and a portrait that feels alive within the swirling patterns. Murals like this have become a familiar part of College Street’s creative landscape, adding a burst of energy to its laneways and side streets.

Ontario Speed Camera Ban: What Do We Think? I drove by the Parkside Drive speed camera the day after it had been ripped down for the seventh time in less than a year. The whole stretch was clogged with construction crews, cameras, and media, traffic squeezed into one lane while the pole lay on the ground again. That Parkside camera, right by High Park, has become Toronto’s most famous, or infamous, speed trap. Since it was installed after a tragic crash in 2021, it has issued more than 69,000 tickets and pulled in over $7 million in fines. The Toronto Vintage Show Continues Today at the Queen Elizabeth Centre It’s day two of the Toronto Vintage Show at the Queen Elizabeth Centre. Yesterday was full of amazing finds, and today promises even more as fresh pieces continue to come out. We even met shoppers who made the trip from Rochester for the show. No surprise—this is the largest vintage sale in Canada, with vendors bringing carefully curated collections from across the country. We met amazing vendors from Ottawa, Calgary, London… each bringing their own style and a real passion for sharing their finds. Our tip: go early. The booths fill quickly and it can get a little tight once the crowds arrive, but it’s worth it to take your time and explore before the best pieces are gone.
