Merriam-Webster’s human editors have chosen β€˜slop’ as the 2025 Word of the Year.

Microsoft AI CEO pushes back against critics after recent Windows AI backlash β€” "the fact that people are unimpressed ... is mindblowing to me" Mustafa Suleyman says people that are unimpressed with AI's capabilities are mind blowing to him, after recent backlash around Copilot and Windows as an agentic OS.

These people are so hilariously out of touch lool

Unsurprising considering the massive investment they have in AI. Hopefully this shift pushes governments and companies to finally start decoupling from the bloated MS ecosystem.

Can’t see any reason for sw engineers to choose Windows with this weird direction they are doubling down on

So odd because Microsoft has building dev tools in their DNA… their OS doesn’t look like anything a builder who wants OS control could choose

Mac or Linux it is for devs

The earliest known example of β€˜brain rot’ comes from Henry David Thoreau in his 1854 book β€œWalden.”

β€œWhile England endeavors to cure the potato-rot, will not any endeavor to cure the brain-rot, which prevails so much more widely and fatally?”

This isn’t a hard-and-fast rule, but if a sentence starts with β€˜per’ it’s usually a bummer.

AI Slop Startup To Flood The Internet With Thousands Of AI Slop Podcasts, Calls Critics Of AI Slop β€˜Luddites’ So look, I’m not one of these people who thinks β€œAI” has no useful applications. Just this week I had an efficient conversation with a Gemini chatbot when trying to cancel a Googl…

β€œWe believe that in the near future half the people on the planet will be AI, and we are the company that’s bringing those people to life,” said CEO Jeanine Wright.

I've only tried the $20 version for both and liked Claude Code more. Ended up canceling my OpenAI sub and sticking with Claude for now. But I do think the usage limits for the $20 Claude Code are a little annoying sometimes.

A four-panel comic titled "Modern SEO Explained."

Panel 1: A person hands a document to a humanoid figure with a computer monitor for a head displaying the Google logo. The person says, "I am an expert and I wrote this for people." Google replies, "OK."

Panel 2: A second person hands over a rewritten version of the first document, saying, "I am not an expert and I rewrote what he wrote for you." Google responds, "Ooh!"

Panel 3: A third person hands over another version, saying, "I remixed the last guy's content most recently." Google, now turned away from the first two, says, "Fresh!"

Panel 4: A large robotic AI machine with many arms waves documents and says, "Never mind these guys. We are the content now." Google enthusiastically replies, "Yes!" The three human contributors are shown panicking or running away. Comic is signed "Datch Haven."

The Open-Source Software Saving the Internet From AI Bot Scrapers Anubis, which block AI scrapers from scraping websites to death, has been downloaded almost 200,000 times.

This is a really interesting solution for the AI bot scraper problem!

The casting really doesn't make sense for this particular character given what happens to him unless they plan to make some broad changes to the plot. Hell, it'd make more sense to cast a Black actor for Harry. Idk they could say he was adopted or something.

He did mention that I have to be the workspace owner for the change to get implemented so maybe you're right. I guess it was a simple solution since I'm a solo user. It sucks that pretty much every service I use now has mandatory AI often with only AI chat support available. The future is grim af.

Unfortunately, it's pretty telling that they didn't include the option to just turn it off in the settings or even say you can contact support to have it removed. At least they're still using humans for support. For now.

I wonder what content they're gonna use to train new models with when people stop making fresh content about new topics/ideas.
