12.08.2025 13:39 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0โIn Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.โ
It costs a lot less to house people.
Wait you are saying the answer to homelessness is home?

And yeah, they don't have any other ideas.

So no, AI is not financially viable whatsoever. Not the build out, not the sustaining it.
If you sprinkle on enough fairy dust, and squint, you can pretend costs will drop due to efficiency but that is faaaaaaaar from happening or maybe possible.
To state the obvious we are living in a world of extremism. People are traumatized, covid, 2008, ICE and/or terrified, ICE, climate change, impossible and increasing cost of living and exhausted.
Add the algo, the need for extreme headlines.
Maybe not fatally menacing.. but 10-15lbs of fast twitch muscle, cat with razor sharp claws, no thanks.
And psychologically menacing, absolutely possible.
In the omicron era I had some minor symptoms, tested negative when I finally got a test and had about 8 months of reduced work capacity. I was careful then and I continue to be careful now if not for my own sake but for the people around me.

The problem is no matter what you think of Trump, he is erratic and you can't trust anything he says.
I mean, he is a fucking idiot but not everyone agrees but even for them they have to see he is less reliable than a defective magic 8 ball.

Screen grab of a section of the HHS press release which is black text on white background. The wind-down affects a range of programs including:Termination of contracts with Emory University and Tiba Biotech.De-scoping of mRNA-related work in existing contracts with Luminary Labs, ModeX, and Seqirus.Rejection or cancellation of multiple pre-award solicitations, including proposals from Pfizer, Sanofi Pasteur, CSL Seqirus, Gritstone, and others, as part of BARDAโs Rapid Response Partnership Vehicle (RRPV) and VITAL Hub.Restructuring of collaborations with DoD-JPEO, affecting nucleic acid-based vaccine projects with AAHI, AstraZeneca, HDT Bio, and Moderna/UTMB.
I'm seeing a lot of big accounts missing the mark on this story. HHS through BARDA is cancelling contracts for mRNA vaccine research related to viral respiratory illnesses. This does not affect mRNA cancer research by NIH and Moderna.
It's still bad news but let's try to keep our facts straight.
