Results are in! 📊 In a pilot in 135 California homes with @avaenergy.org, min/day NO2 exceeded health-based guidelines dropped from 13 to 0 after switching from gas to induction stoves. Household-level reports helped participants see their own air-quality gains. 🙌 #cleancooking

A small but mighty sample! 💪 In our recently-concluded study with @PUSHBuffalo, we observed noticeable NO2 peaks during cooking with a gas stove - peaks which largely disappeared after switching to an electric induction stove. Yet another PUSH towards #cleancooking!

While headlines often focus on climate change, the invisible particles and molecules that result from burning fossil fuels and that infiltrate human bodies is one of the greatest threats to longevity today. The magnitude of the crisis The numbers are staggering. Air pollution causes approximately 7 million premature deaths annually. To put this in perspective, air pollution is now the second leading risk factor for death worldwide, trailing only high blood pressure and ranking ahead of tobacco use and poor diet. Perhaps most alarming for the public is that almost everyone in the world (99% of us) breathes air that exceeds the WHO limits...

The more I've learned about #airpollution, the madder I've gotten about the gap between what researchers know and what most people--including most #health care workers--know.
