The time of death I see often is the same moment the dashboard is published.

Each wheel is an Excel “database” and the frame is made up of a combination of VBA scripts and VLOOKUP. The gears are a decades old Access DB that no one understands.

One problem with all of these complaints, and data work in general, is that their impact is incredibly hard to quantify. So we’re left with anecdotes and feelings and trying to make crucial decisions without solid information

What a brutal work week it's been (and it's only Tuesday).

Losing so many amazing coworkers has been sad and my heart goes out to everyone who was impacted by the #layoffs at #Cargill. We're losing not only talented people but wonderful human beings that I respect and make me enjoy coming to work.

Finally got my #bird feeders up over the weekend and had my first visitors, a nuthatch and a pileated woodpecker!

Linux because I enjoy things being just little inconvenient at times
