A small boost to move forward mentally and emotionally is that we have an immensely important Racing Louisville game today. So, while we have to wait until next year for City to go again, the broader Louisville soccer fandom gets to go again today.

So the only reconciliation I can come to is “let’s go again next year”

It’s not as cathartic as identifying a cause (or believing to have done so) and projecting a way to avoid it next year. I don’t have real reason to believe next year will be better other than “that’s the way it goes sometimes.”

I really don’t know if there are any overarching lessons to take away from last night. I really can’t settle the fact that City so consistently avoided these types of games in the 30 game regular season, yet got bit in the first playoff game.
