I wanted to thank everyone for sharing the PhD opportunity in animal migration. I received ~100 applications from all over the world and have found someone with the skills I was looking for. There were so many talented students with similar skills, and it was extremely challenging to choose one.

Peer review is a central part of scientific discussion. Reviewers should seek improving both the manuscript and the research behind it & authors should consider fair suggestions as a kind contribution to their work. Under the guidance of good editors, this improves the quality of published science ๐Ÿงช

What reviewers wish you knew! Overall, I have reviewed > 100 papers from ~50 journals and review 2-3 manuscripts monthly. Two things that surprise me the most are: Over 95% of authors โ€“ donโ€™t know how to respond โ€ฆ

Most rejections happen not because the science is bad, but because authors handle reviewer comments poorly.

A good response is easy to follow and shows a willingness to improve.

Worth a read? ๐Ÿ‘‡
