Some think it can’t happen to us, surely. That “we defeated fascism once, we’re immune.” That’s historically wrong. Democracies don’t become authoritarian overnight. They erode; through courts captured, media smeared, elections delegitimised, minorities scapegoated.

In the light of renewed focus on Reform's plans to ditch the Equalities Act, it's worth re-reading this thread from @seanjones.org

Positive Action is a big part of the Equality Act? 35 years as a specialist employment lawyer and my best guess is I’ve encountered employment disputes concerning positive action maybe once? Twice?

The Green Party's Caroline Lucas humiliates Reform UK's Zia Yusuf on #Newsnight

"Your position is utterly incoherent"

"You have provided no evidence that it's the Equalities Act that discriminates against white working class boys"

Not sure why Reform announcing they’ll scrap the Equality Act 2010 hasn’t provoked widespread alarm.
They want to torch our human rights framework AND repeal our right to protection from discrimination.
A smile and a shrug on BBC News.
What the hell?
FFS, media. Tell people what this really means.

Nothing has been learnt and nearly 200 children have died in the UK and now right wing press are doing the same for Measles. This must stop,

Children under 12 still have no Covid vaccine access and most clinically vulnerable young people, many who shielded have no NHS vaccine access!

The same as for COVID and evidence on this was given in the Covid inquiry and many parents were fined for rightly protecting their children. The most medically vulnerable children in the UK are the least protected.

Why didn't Farage just answer the question about Reform's education policy?

Why did he seek to mock and ridicule the journalist asking a perfectly legitimate question and try to deligitimise the FT?

Easy. That's who he is. An arrogant man who doesn't have any policies beyond pointing at the sea.

Interesting. Not surprising. As I was putting something in my car in car park a man reversing into car parking space came inches close to my leg rather than wait. I said something. He advised that if I hadn't been looking after my coffee I (on car roof) I could have avoided (near leg crush)

Nigel Farage claims the FT ignored the Mandelson-Epstein scandal

it was on the front page for SIX days

Thank you, I’ve been so fortunate to have the cottage- I bought it with monies my mum left me & my kids but that doesn’t count for anything necessarily in divorce.
So trying to focus on all the lovely times I’ve spent there. I hope to still pop up from Newcastle to see my Northumberland friends. 😊

That delivery company is my least favourite. I’ve had excellent service from Ian & Craig from DPD in Newcastle.

Farage has announced his Shadow Cabinet, with no Health Secretary.

Presumably because if he becomes Prime Minister, there’ll be no NHS.

I was up at my cottage in Northumberland today - I love seeing snowdrops and altho really chilly, it was a bright day with blue skies & sunshine until mid afternoon.
So sad to be selling it to fund divorce. Spent hours with my PA packing up books & had visit from chimney sweep.
I am so fatigued.

As every media outlet promotes Nigel Farage and his Reform company, as we are told they will undoubtedly form the next govt, it is worth reminding ourselves of a few ‘unmentioned’ outcomes.

But hey …. go ahead and place your X in the box. Coz that’s what the media tells you.
