It's been a busy couple of weeks with committee meetings, two sets of interviews for senior positions at Richmond Council, volunteering at the Holocaust Memorial Day workshops at Richmond synagogue and lots of casework.

At Richmond Council's Special Standing Committee on Heathrow, I heard about how implausible Heathrow's plans for expansion are. The Green Party is the only party that opposes airport expansion unequivocally.

#Heathrow expansion will bring an extra 276,000 flights a year.
That's:
❌ An extra 43 flights an hour;
❌ An extra 4.4 million tonnes of CO2 a year - the equivalent of the energy use of 5m homes or 661 million trees grown for 10 years.

Councillor Frieze is bringing this as a ward concern to the Transport and Air Quality Committee meeting tonight, 2 February 2026.
Councillor @andreefrieze.bsky.social organised a police speed check on Church Rd this morning, in response to residents' requests and her own experience of walking and cycling down this road.
Over an hour and a quarter, 18 people were pulled over for speeding.

Richmond's Green Party councillors have pushed the ruling administration to help households and communities cut energy bills and carbon emissions.
✅ #Richmond Council yesterday revealed it will provide funding for community energy projects. Green councillors have been demanding this for years.
This weekend's green related event is the Habitats & Heritage Grimwood Road Big Dig Out 💚

Grateful for the cross-party debate on dangerous proposals from Govt to scrap jury trials.
Did my best to encourage Conservatives in the debate to own up to their role in creating the dire mess our courts are in, but got a very poor response.
