The thing is I think people gravitate towards ultra modded roguelikes for a reason; some people like the percieved possibility of losing, and like that they are winning in spite of it whether or not its a natural god run

... and I look over and see people create some mustard gas looking modpacks for these titles and more (like StS ect ect) and I wont diss it but I feel like we forget the base experience and intent. Like I save scum too from time to time but I will never complain if a dev wants to nix that.

Idk. Balatro and isaac became more fun when I just kept going with runs. Sure I will lose in balatro if I genuinely get nothing, but I realized how strong interest was and now im way better at it. Isaac is technically beatable albeit miserable with no items at all ...

I think there is a broader issue w/ people feeling like every roguelike run is a win, and they deserve infinite tries to reach that win. I think bad decisions and mistakes that were avoidable at higher levels of play are lessons to be learned not something you should ...
