I really don’t like Microsoft anymore. I only use my Windows 11 machine when I have to. It seems like Microsoft has taken the fun out of computers.

Good blog post and I agree. I wonder if one day we’ll look back and say some year was the last perfect year for home computers as we’ve known and enjoyed them for the last 40+.

I got a 520ST for Christmas…. 37 or 38 years ago. Loved that computer. Only one other kid I knew had a computer. We were true 80’s nerds. Coded a D&D style text adventure in Basic on that machine. I miss that time so much.

Lots of times. One time went to Disney Land with the family as a teen. 30+ years ago I guess. Disney had an arcade and I spent the entire day and all my money in the arcade. Mom wasn’t happy about paying for a pass so I could spend the day in the arcade.

Most lasers will pass straight through and lose focus. That laser is a very specific 532 nanometer laser that heats up at the focus point regardless of where that point is. Creates tiny bubbles inside the glass which is what enables it to create “bubblegrams” like in the video.

I respected him for his accomplishments with SpaceX but he’s lost the respect because of X. So much garbage and vitriol it’s a bad place. He claims he wants to save humanity but his platform may hasten the collapse of the thing he claims to care most about.

As others have noted, wrong park. Arches is way over crowded now. Capital Reef has far less visitors and far less arches though there are some. Both are beautiful.

I need to watch it again. Really powerful series. Great acting too.

Even if Basic lacks relevance now, it was certainly a monumental part of computers for the first 15+ years they were available to the masses. A generation of people who went on to create software as we now know it, started with Basic. Basic and the giants who created it should never be forgotten.
