A time travelling visitor?...

We had a look through our donation money box today and found an old penny from 1947!

The old pennies started to be removed from circulation in 1970 in anticipation of "Decimal Day" on the 15th of February 1971 when the UK decimalised their currency.

Ceilidh season is here!

This week we have a throwback to a dance in the 1950s where the Scottish soldiers didn't seem to have much luck with the ladies! πŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒ
(Corporal David Wilson of the Scottish Horse sounded particularly heartbroken)

Here we have an photograph of Peter Rabbit author Beatrix Potter. Beatrix and her family would rent large local house and spend their summers in the area.
This portrait was taken by A.F. MacKenzie, at this time Mackenzie was using the abbreviation N.B. after Birnam which stands for North Britain.

#ThrowbackThursday to a Scottish Horse Party in 1939 and the old Scottish Horse Museum which was in Dunkeld.

When the Scottish Horse Museum was closed in 1999 the Chapter House Museum trust adapted their collections policy to accept the Scottish Horse archives and documents. Lucky us!

The cave was a gift for Lady Charlotte, daughter of John Murray the 3rd Duke of Atholl in 1774. This photograph was taken by local woman Mary Noble in 1948.
