So on some level, maybe it makes sense to just let people believe whatever they want.
Show a clear image of a drone, then the same people will demand attribution. If the drone says "Made in Russia", some will still yell that it's a false flag.
Ah, the joys of hybrid warfare.
That *might* be a rationale for authorities to not release anything - the fear of creating a flap where every light in the sky becomes a Russian drone/UFO/whatever.
And even in cases where Russian drones crash/land (say in Poland) there are people who will claim that it was someone elses fault.
Agreed and the vacuum is being filled with people saying nothing is happening, that it is an imaginary flap.
That, given the vacuum of information, might even be true.
Personally, I find it hard to believe there's no good evidence and every single case is one of mistaken identity.
The more interactions I have with folks, the more I believe it to be utterly self defeating for european authorities not to release some solid, verifiable evidence about the drone incidents.
You wont convince everyone, but it'd be better than the current vacuum of information.
A classic 🎶

Maybe they were drones operated by a malicious actor.
Or maybe they were just misidentifications of civilian airliners.
Hope we get more detail and facts soon.

06.12.2025 23:22 — 👍 3 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0If LÉ William Butler Yeats was keeping an eye on the vessel mentioned in this article, then the nearest aircraft to it on ADS-B was likely EI-FAT, an Aer Lingus ATR-72 turboprop, which orbited at around 8,000 feet.

Personally, I'd be wary of shooting .50 cal, or 20mm cannon into a sky where civilian aircraft are circulating below 10,000 feet.

Haha, same!
It's a big & intriguing question - I don't know the answer, but I guess the elephant in the room is, once it reached the area - with no sonar, if something *was* submerged, the Irish Naval vessel wouldn't have been able to detect it.
With information currently publicly available, it is certainly fair to suggest the possibility that the "drones" were a misidentification of air traffic, but it is also possible that they were indeed drones.
As with online "discussion" of any event, alas it seems people must vehemently choose one 😫
"On a screen monitoring ship traffic inside the Yeats an anomaly became visible for a short time. It was judged it was a surface boat or ship."
Suffice to say, it wasn't there when ship arrived. This makes me think a surface search radar contact, rather than AIS, but then GPS spoofing is mooted.
