"I'm a small finch, often found in suburban areas across North America. While most of my kind are known for their red and brown plumage, I stand out with vibrant yellow on my head and chest. I have a streaky brown back and a conical beak perfect for cracking seeds." 2.5 Flash (Edited)

"I am a brightly coloured bird with a slender body and a long, slightly downturned beak. My plumage is a mix of chestnut, yellow, blue, and green, and I have a black mask across my eyes. My name comes from my diet, which consists mainly of flying insects - especially bees, wasps, and hornets, whose stings I remove before eating. I nest in burrows dug into sandy banks." 2.5 Flash (Edited)

The plumage of cormorants is not fully waterproof and becomes wet when they dive through the water to catch their prey. By absorbing water, their plumage reduces the cormorants’ buoyancy, which helps them be more maneuverable.
A Cormorant taking care of those special feathers. The inner area, around the central shaft (rachis), is extremely water-resistant. The outer area of the feather absorbs water like a sponge. See ALT #birds #cormorant #birdphotography #birdsoftheworld #nature #wildlife #BirdWatching

🌏 New Zealand Fantail (Rhipidura fuliginosa)
The New Zealand Fantail is a small, energetic bird with a variable grey-brown back, a yellowish-orange underside, and a dark band across its chest below a white throat. Distinctive white "eyebrows" adorn its dark grey face. Found throughout New Zealand in forests, gardens, and scrublands, it is highly active and not shy. It uses its fanned tail to make acrobatic flights while catching insects.
Four subspecies are recognised.
Conservation status: Least Concern (IUCN 3.1)

Two lizards are sitting on a rock. The female is light brown with dark brown markings. Inside the dark spots there are one or two tiny light spots. Two light stripes run along the back. The male is darker coloured and the sides of the head and body as well as the front legs are green. The female is pointing her head towards the male (and to the right in the picture) and the male is pointing its head towards something just below the camera.
🦎Male and female sand lizard (Lacerta agilis).
Max size 24 cm (9.4").
Found in most of mainland Europe (except for Spain and Portugal) and in England. Its distribution extends as far east as Mongolia.
Considered Least Concern by the IUCN.

I like the scientific name. The 1st part is Greek for bee-eater and the 2nd part is Latin for bee-eater making this the bee-eater bee-eater.
Similar to the Eurasian brown bear (Ursus arctos arctos) which is Latin and 2x Greek for bear. Thus the scientific name means bear bear bear.

Tiê-sangue
