I wish! It's quite cloudy right now, but no rain is predicted here in St. Louis. Everything is dry and brown. Sad!

Trying to convert a someone from gay to straight is no different from trying to convert someone from straight to gay. Both cause deep, irreparable psychological harm.

Good grief. Not one single answer. And her only defense is to ask Schiff if he has a law degree?

Doesn't surprise me. Being from MO, I can confirm Schmitt has always been this way. He's a Trumpy as Trump himself.

Thank you, Rep. Cleaver. We Missourians have heard nothing from other other Reps. regarding what they are doing about this. And to think Gov. Kehoe is trying to gerrymander you out of a congressional seat! The only person who cares will be the person pushed out. This is what we've become.

The fact that this even has to be said shows the off-the-chart levels of corruption, greed, hate, and racism amongst Trump, Inc.

Wow. How does one even respond to that? "Working around the clock?" Not sure that tracks with taking weeks off at a time.

That would have been wonderful, James. We’ve had only a small amount of rain over two days since mid July. Everything is suffering.

Just realized you’re on an island, John. That’s a good way to escape some of the madness in this country. Beautiful part of the country. You’ve picked a nice spot.

Always a lovely view, James. Quite windy here, too, although no storms. We sure could use some rain!

Thoroughly enjoyed this article. All Creatures Great and Small and The Yorkshire Vet are two of my favorite programs to watch here in the US. They do, indeed, remind me of a better, gentler time. I pray the spirit of Wight and the Dales will find its way into our world once again!

β€œTerrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”

I'm Canadian, but it fits worldwide.

Poem by Mary Oliver called β€œOf the Empire,”
We will be known as a culture that fear, death and adored power, that tried to vanquish insecurity for the few and cared little for the penury of the money. We will be known as a culture, that taught and rewarded the masking of things. If all about the quality of life for people (other people), for dogs, for rivers. All the world, in our eyes, they will say, was a commodity. And they will say that this structure was held together politically, which it was, and they will say also that our politics was no more than an apparatus to accommodate the feelings of the heart, and that the heart, in those days, was small, and hard, and full of meanness.

Absolutely love that idea. My yard is so large - it would take a gardening crew to get it all converted. Would love to, though! I've planted quite a lot of it with flowers, etc. I guess I'll just keep going and maybe in a decade it will have no more grass!

I would love not to cut the grass! I leave it as long as possible, but my neighborhood issues fines for uncut grass. So, I work to provide as many flowerbeds as possible for them. Gotta do what we can!

A Christmas Carol, but instead of Scrooge visiting Tiny Tim, the ghost of the present takes traditional, moderately committed conservatives to see actual ICE raids in Chicago.
