I am old & sometimes cranky. I love books. ABQ NM, because the desert is awesome. History lover, esp. Naval stuff. No MAGA. NO DM's, I WILL NOT ANSWER. Comic book reader since the 80s. Married for 54 years.
Happy birthday, sir!
21.09.2025 16:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I watch it now and then. We don't have cable; instead, we use an antenna. I watch the news in the morning and that's about it. My husband watches it more than I do, but he keeps it on one of the Western channels.
19.09.2025 11:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Free childcare was actually enacted in NM in 2022. The new universal part includes anyone who needs it, regardless of income. It should start in November, but the continued funding will have to come from the state legislature, which convenes in mid-January.
12.09.2025 17:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And, it worked. My husband and I, both in our early 70s, got our COVID shots yesterday along with our flu shots at a local Albertson's pharmacy near our home.
12.09.2025 13:14 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't care who is in the Epstein Files, Democrat, Republican, or Independent. Release them all and out the child predators who abused these victims.
03.09.2025 12:52 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1I love my state. It's comforting to know that my husband and I can still get COVID shots to protect us. We're seniors and would like to live a few more years.
01.09.2025 11:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I saw a photo of him off to the golf course on Microsoft News, so he's not dead.
30.08.2025 17:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I can no longer go to the theater because I am a caregiver for my husband. I would be lost without streaming and subtitles. π

Thirty years later, Xena remains a beloved figure among fans. Also, the Roku Channel has a dedicated Xena channel that runs 24/7. π

Costco has never sold this pill and is only telling the country, they don't plan on it.
15.08.2025 16:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Dean!! I am anxiously waiting for the new season in the US.

In my 53 years I agree.
Theyβre dehumanizing us.

25.07.2025 11:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I worked as a parking enforcement person at the El Paso Airport in the late 80s/early1990s & ran into Tom Landry, checking in his bags outside. As a Cowboys fan, I was starstruck & we exchanged a few words.

11.07.2025 00:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Robert Montgomery, as Philip Marlowe, from the film Lady in the Lake, is looking into a mirror. He is wearing a white shirt with suspenders, black pants, and his tie is undone. Audrey Totter, as Adrienne Fromsett, is just behind him and to the left of Marlowe. Her hair is pinned up, and she is wearing a print dress. No colors as this film is in black and white.
Humphrey Bogart as Phillip Marlowe and Lauren Bacall as Vivian Rutledge in the film The Big Sleep. Marlowe is sitting in a desk chair, dressed in a suit and tie, holding a piece of paper. Vivian is sitting on the desk wearing a checked suit and a black blouse.
Jimmy Stewart as the character P.J. Jim McNeal, a reporter for the Chicago Times in the film Call Northside 777. He is wearing a white shirt and a striped tie, holding a piece of paper in his right hand and a large coffee cup in his left hand. His left wrist is adorned with a watch on a black band. There is a desk lamp casting a stream of light on the scene. There are file cabinets in the background.
I have the MoviesTVNetwork on my antenna lineup, and I spent 7 hours today watching 3 Film Noir films that I have never seen.
11.07.2025 00:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I didn't watch any fireworks events on TV or online. I read a book.

01.07.2025 17:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Jason Delgado (Florida Capitol reporter for Spectrum News 13) on X: "Quick look at what inside a detainment tent looks like here at Alligator Alcatraz." What is shown in the picture is a long tent structure, about 50 feet wide. There is a corridor running down the middle. On each side are three rows of bunk beds. The bunk beds are sectioned off into cells which are constructed out of chain link fence, with chain link on the ceiling as well, making each cell a literal cage. It looks to me like each cell contains 9 bunk beds, so has capacity for 18 people each.
Literal cages. Not even metaphorical ones. Literal ones.

30.06.2025 17:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The cover of the first three Bernie Gunther novels in one book. The author is Philip Kerr, written in yellow in the middle, and there is a small photo of a man sitting in a car looking out the window.
I have had this book on my living room shelf for a few years, and decided to give it a whirl. Wow! This author is amazing. It takes place in 1936 Berlin, and to have the cajones to write a scene with Herman Goering is wild. Bernie Gunther is my new favorite historical private eye.
