In Praise of Editors If that headline doesnโ€™t get me tons of hate mail, I donโ€™t know what will.

My latest post, about the multiple roles editors play in newsrooms, from steering reporters in the right direction, to helping them craft compelling narratives, to finding typos and nit-picking language. And whether AI can help on those tasks.

British newspaper spoke to the wrong DeBlasio, not an โ€˜imposterโ€™ How a Long Island vintner, with the help of ChatGPT, prompted a transatlantic journalistic debacle.

โ€œIโ€™m Bill DeBlasio. Iโ€™ve always been Bill DeBlasio,โ€ DeBlasio said in an interview conducted through his Ring doorbell on Long Island.

โ€œI never once said I was the mayor. He never addressed me as the mayor. So I just gave him my opinion.โ€

There are clearly bad outcomes, but existing media isn't perfect either; can people be better served if news is more responsive to their personal situation, issues and needs? Do we all have to read one version of the news that people sitting around at table at a large news organization decide on?

It's true that in this new world, we have to rethink what we produce and how we produce it to fit/feed the new formats and outputs. I don't think we can simply that what we do and assume it can be reassembled easily.

The ease of vibe coding could upend the economics of scarcity and scale As the cost and difficulty of coding falls, how do companies adapt strategies and processes built on husbanding and prioritizing scarce tech resources?

Vibe coding won't just make making what companies make cheaper and faster; it'll likely remake how they make it, and what they make. The economics of product management are likely to be upended as scarcity of coding skills turns into plenty: www.semafor.com/article/06/0...
