Another "riot". This time in 1959 in LA. It's growing more & more apparent to me that Stonewall wasn't the START of it all it was actually near the end a decade of riots across the country leading up to it.

More queer history I was never taught. Funny how the path to our rights was won paved with "riots" and not "just be nice and they'll give them to us".

First time I drove past it I was like "that looks like the Hall of Justice from my childhood cartoons" and then promptly learned it was the inspiration for it. Saw a great drag show there during pride! :)

I knew it was coming because I was in Cincinnati when they were filming at the literal Hall of Justice building. heh. I can't wait to see it!

One of my favorite teachers always used to say "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." - but now I realize that as wise as that phrase seems, it doesn't really address the third option that we're seeing so frequently now: both at once.

For exactly the same reasons that they arrest sex workers and give them a criminal record but don't look twice at the people hiring them.

Laws are made up to justify punishing who they want to punish, not actually serve justice or the greater good.

I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky

Being white won't save you. As more than a couple Canadians have already found out.

We can't guarantee the safety of OUR OWN CITIZENS (again, MANY news reports on that). Coming here as a tourist or anything else is lunacy. So I'll repeat again, just stay away.
