For awhile, we’ve had judges who just solved the problem by refusing to take weddings from the public at all. Wonder if we start seeing some of those folks open up their schedules now.

We’re all connected. Texas is the only reason Prop 50 exists, and I’m thankful it does (as a Texan), but let’s not pretend we’re not affected by what happens in other states’ parties (like electing Sinema or Fetterman).

For those who want to “do something”: If you can afford it, in November, cover SNAP benefits for someone you know who gets them. If you don’t know anyone who gets SNAP benefits, donate $300-500 to your local food bank. Money is always a more effective donation than food.

To be entirely fair, federal judges were making up facts way before AI, too.

I voted no on every Texas Constitutional proposition. I usually do, to be honest, unless we’re voting to undo some other dumb proposition. I cannot overstate how much I don’t trust the Texas legislature. Most, if not all, will pass anyway. They always do.

On one hand, I completely support opening up an Alzheimer's and dementia research center in Texas. I mean, duh.

On the other, if it's on the ballot, I am suspicious of what the catch might be since the Texas state government is OK with us voting on it. There's always a catch with them.

I love it and I’m doing my best too! I’m just so tired of state reps in safe seats who don’t bother trying to get the vote out in their own districts. So frustrating!

You’re an exception in Texas, friend. Only 59% of registered voters even bothered to get out in Harris County last November. It was 43% in November 2022. We have low voter turnout because of suppression, and gerrymandering is part of that.

I used to think the same way, and it makes sense except that local and congressional elections happen more often than statewide elections, so if you feel hopeless about voting your rep out because gerrymandering, you’re way less likely to think your vote for president or governor actually matters.

DHS shoots people all the time. This isn’t new. There’s no legislative remedy for this, and no way for people to collect damages except at the whim of whatever federal judge they happen to draw and what that judge might thinks about Bivens.
