Additionally, note the all the scorn here is on the trans instructor.

Assuming they do actually fail any student who refuses or declares support for 3rd parties.

Again though, this story does even come close.

You could get to a first amendment issue in theory, but this is not anything remotely close to that and it's not even close.

Say you had a professor who declared "I hate people who vote 3rd party in elections" and required all students to swear they'll vote for a major party.

That's a 1A issue.

I strongly suggest you read the explanations for the grade in full from both instructors.

If you think this is a viable first amendment issue or that there's any scintilla of evidence suggesting her grade was retaliation, you are getting worked.

A lot of people are ignoring how the TA who was targeted (who is Trans) gave the 0 grade but the professor (who is Cis) reviewed and confirmed.

This isn't some rogue Grad student who attacked a student. This was a TA doing her job who has become the latest victim of right-wing transphobic hatred.

Like all right-wing culture war victim narratives, they're spinning a story and you're falling for it.

This is the coach "leading a private prayer" all over again and you're playing the role of Gorsuch: ignoring the facts in the record to create a false reality.

There isn't a first amendment issue here. You're falling for the propaganda blitz designed to make a student who submitted terrible work into a victim.

You're ignoring two pages of detailed critique on an assignment and focuses on one word added a throwaway.
