One last bitter irony: This lunatic was, until this incident, part of the hostage negotiation team.

This cop makes over $100k a year in base salary. In Palm Beach Gardens, the median income for men $50,045. For women, it's $33,221.

So when people say cops aren't treated well, throw things at them until they stop talking.

Arbitration resulted in her reinstatement.

Completely missing from the opinion: The insults, threats, screaming, homophobia, and unprofessional belligerence unbecoming of somebody given authority to kill in the name of the state.

This is what the system deems acceptable policing in America.

As usual in these cases, the courts, in this case, the god-awful 11th Circuit, go out of their way to downplay bad behavior and sanewash their batshit overreactions.

TLDR: Cop pulls up as second officer on a call and goes full meathead. Pulls her gun on a non-violent person wearing a bathing suit ("he didn't follow commands").

It's a perfect example of how everyday citizens are expected to be calm and show deference to the gang with no recourse for violations.

This is from last year, but here's a truly execrable case that shows why Congress needs to abolish qualified immunity and reduce judicial barriers for civil lawsuits.
