SCOTUS soon: LOL. We can't believe you thought we meant it.

Not the only one..... I'm told. Passed the bar, spending my life in public defense. Likely thinking about cats at all times.

I covered this on the very next post.

That being said, it's very rare for criminal cases to resolve via motion to dismiss, so I would advise people not to read too far in to what happens early in the case.
Comey's case case will likely end with either a trial or a voluntary dismissal from the DOJ.
If I may, your link is about nationwide injunctions. It was and remains a shit SCTOUS case, but it has nothing to do with a federal judge's ability to dismiss a criminal case.
The negative reaction you received stems from frustration at people who throw up their hands and say "There's no hope!"

It would have to be 3. They already made a 2.

So, the thing I'm supposed to be so upset about turns out to be far more nuanced when you actually see the context and know the whole story?
Well I never.....
Here's a handy guide that I want to share. Feel free to pass it along.

Ah, I see we've entered the new old territory: "You furnish the pictures. I'll furnish the war."
I assume the Regime will try to use footage to justify the invasion in court.
The over-criminalization of American life means I have an increasing number of relatively well-off, middle-class people as clients.
I've lost count of the number of times I've heard "Why are they (prosecutors) being so awful? I'm not a criminal."
People think it'll never come for them.
Yikes. That sounds awful.

1. 6:00am flights should be banned under the Geneva Convention.
2. I will be having words with the colleague who decided to book everybody on this 6:00am flight. I don't need "safety and camaraderie." I need sleep.
Best I can tell, this is the exchange that started the most recent drama, but it appears it's more of a long build sort of explosion.

No-knock warrants should be eliminated, but that alone won't fix the problem.
I think they generally break into 4 categories:
1. Zealots who think this is the beginning of a Forever Reich.
2. Politicians banking on Dems to move on and "heal the nation."
3. Sociopaths who don't care so long as they have power now.
4. Narcissists certain their ideas will win everyone over.
Halligan is an embarrassing disgrace to the legal profession, but South Beach Tow, which was a scripted/loosely improvised parody of "hard job" reality shows, is a goddamn delight!
I will not hear any lies on this piece of perfection.
It's crazy how much we still talk about (and the right still fumes) over Hilary's "basket of deplorables" or Obama's "They cling to guns and religion" in the age of Trump.
Media made innocuous comments into major scandal, but they're silent as this guy is all "The Army should open fire on Oakland."
I never suggested that. I said it's an affirmative defense if cops break into your house.
So if (A) cops force entry and (B) you shoot them, you could argue the defense to a jury. If they accept your argument, you wouldn't be criminally liable.
Are legislatures not free to define what is self defense in their own jurisdictions?
Also, laws aren't "anarchy" just because you don't like or agree with them. By definition, it's not anarchy when passed by a legislative body.
A bill passed by a legislature and signed into law to amend the statutory code is the opposite of sovereign citizens and anarchy.
02.10.2025 20:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0My violent, radical-left thought of the day:
States should pass laws that add an affirmative defense if you shoot cops when they break into your house, regardless of warrant status.
You'd see those "warriors" slow up pretty quickly. Let's use the lessons of Uvalde to our benefit.
I don't disagree with you, but if I wanted a place where accounts got banned after random people yelled at the CEO, Twitter is right there across the digital street.
I have a very zero-sum position on these things. If I don't like the moderation decisions, I'll find a different place to post.

If people kept barging into my mentions making demands on issues that have already been discussed, I'd probably start getting real snarky as well.

It's pretty funny how many people keep accounts here just to complain about how much they hate Bluesky and harass the named staff.

I love that movie so much. It's definitely my favorite baseball movie and probably my favorite sports movie altogether.
The funniest thing about white nationalists is their constant refusal to learn even a little bit of actual history.
They live in a racism and Hollywood fueled world where Black people didn't really exist until like 1975 when Shaft hit theaters.

My entire life the right has been shouting about government corruption (when Democrats were in power) and now that companies are openly bribing the President, they fucking shrug.
