Using molecules produced by microbes to detect Parkinson’s disease early Prof. Paul Wilmes was just awarded a Proof of Concept grant by the European Research Council (ERC) to explore if small proteins originating from gut

Their aim? To investigate whether tiny proteins produced by gut microbes could act as early indicators of Parkinson’s disease, long before symptoms appear.
