Crime can be formulaic.
When it comes to some kinds of #storytelling, there's a formula in place. Crime, for instance, has the "whodunit" or "howdunit." A formulaic story can at first glance sound boring, but the magic is within playing with the beats.

Kara Smith is a Bermudan-British screenwriter who moved to the UK from Bermuda as a young, single mum to attend university where she attained degrees in journalism, psychology and screenwriting.
She started her career in children’s television working for CBeebies across several preschool series such as RASTA MOUSE, APPLE TREE HOUSE and SPOTBOTS.
Kara also wrote for several of the UK’s highly acclaimed streaming series: HBO/Sky’s horror-comedy THE BABY, Netflix’s new genre series LOCKWOOD & CO from Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright, Netflix’s forthcoming KAOS from Charlie Covell and Sister Pictures, Amazon’s ANANSI BOYS created by Neil Gaiman, and the AMC+ and Sid Gentle series RAGDOLL.
