04.08.2025 10:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Beautifulβ¦ we used to holiday en famille in Normandy in a 17thc. walled farm with a horse pond in the middle full of carp which my fishing-mad sons loved to visit. (More civilised activities were also available ;-)
04.08.2025 09:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks for all these wonderful photos, Rebecca.
03.08.2025 14:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Okay - so we both have an unsatisfactory experience. π€
03.08.2025 12:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0On a different matter which you raised earlier. Bluesky will no longer allow DMs without age verification; but requires you to use a partner - KWS - which sends you an email and asks for a credit card number. I feel uncomfortable with that. How about you?
03.08.2025 12:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Many a truella said in jest.

03.08.2025 11:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love it - not least because itβs got horses on it! Why not use for displaying Queen Mathildaβs favourite flowers: gladioli?
03.08.2025 10:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I follow this poster for just this kind of information. It is very important to bring to book those people who mismanaged and/or exploited the Covid crisis - up to the very highest level in government and business.
03.08.2025 08:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The plaque is 35x15 cms - so quite a miniature version (in case youβre wondering).
03.08.2025 08:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Quite deserved. π
03.08.2025 08:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Norman tat: Ashtray (no-one in the household smokes); plate (cat damaged); woven plaque (wall-hanging); T-shirt (bought two decades ago at the Bayeux museum and worn at every possible βNormanβ event). The other three items are charity shop purchases.
03.08.2025 08:19 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Congratulations on your excellent presentation of the Spanish perspective on the 1588 Armada and its many contexts into the present day!
03.08.2025 07:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0π΄ NEW: Foreign billionaires are using UK companies to pour millions into British politics β legally.
We found Β£6m+ in political donations from UK firms owned by foreign nationals β people who canβt vote in Britain.

The medieval bargemen of the Seine had St Philomena as their protectress. Also, they used horses to pull their vessels along. The river is probably rather too narrow to sail along easily, as you suggest.
02.08.2025 16:58 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great river trip! Are you aiming to cross La Manche, as well?
02.08.2025 16:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Stimmt!
02.08.2025 16:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Fascinating!

31.07.2025 06:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have several which I can shareβ¦
31.07.2025 06:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0True. Did you know that players used to bet on chess, and braining someone with a chess-board was a standard trope in epic poetry featuring short-tempered chevaliers?
30.07.2025 17:32 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, but is William playing White or Black (ref. your first comment)?
30.07.2025 16:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not big enough for a medieval board, anywayβ¦

30.07.2025 16:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Who do the couple on the bookβs cover represent - itβs far from clear to me?
30.07.2025 16:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0TatsΓ€chlich? π€
30.07.2025 16:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Brilliant! A few years ago I took a friend to Jane Austinβs house in Chawton. There is a Clementini square piano in the front room, which she played beautifully, which was much appreciated by all the visitors at the time.
30.07.2025 15:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Fabulous displays! I donβt want to be a picky medievalist, but I canβt help feeling that the Cistercian monks in the foreground are being rather performative. Scythes are strange tools to be tending brassicas with. Perhaps they should have asked for guidance from the serfs that they *didnβt* have? π€
30.07.2025 15:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Itβs slightly unsettling that boy in the yellow shirt with a huge napkin tucked into its collar is being offered a whole chicken by the waitress.
